QUINN, Edna Hull, age 81, passed away on Fri. Feb. 16, 2007 in Sun City Center. She was born in Athens, GA, raised in Troy, NY, and N. Adams, MA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, C. Wesley Quinn and sons Jeffrey and James Quinn. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Black and husband Jim, Patricia Creighton and husband Russell, four grandchildren, Jessica, Ian, Cassie and William, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, a sister and a brother. Edna graduated from Lansingburgh High School 1943, attended Russell Sage College until her marriage in 1946. She later returned to Hillsborough Jr. College in Tampa, and graduated Phi Theta Kappa 1972, attended University of Tampa, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, became a travel writer and participated in Journalistic Press Tours for PanAm and Eastern Airlines. She was published in Southern newspapers and her poetry appeared in Nightfall for Diamonds and The Worlds Best Poets, Library of Congress publications. Edna was a past member of Rainbow Girls as a teenager and Order Of The Eastern Star, Palestine Chapter 270, Troy, NY. She belonged to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Sun City Center, with an affiliate membership in Palma Ceia United Methodist Church in Tampa. She studied piano as a child and made her special debut at age 12 in a classical piano program in Troy, NY. Later she developed a swing jazz style and shared her talent with many organizations, schools, churches, nursing homes and hospitals. Edna was also accomplished in drama and language arts and participated as a volunteer for Headstart, tutoring in public schools under S.E.R.V.E. throughout the Tampa Bay and South County areas. She also enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother, and entertaining in U.S.O during WWII. She was a past member of Sunset Park Garden Club, Palma Ceia United Methodist Jazz Band, and playing piano accompaniments for many civic clubs, organizations, private parties, schools, churches, nursing homes and retirement centers. Edna thoroughly enjoyed her life and despite health problems, tried to live it positively, with the thought "better days are coming". A private family service will be conducted at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, with scattering of her ashes in their Memorial Garden. Rev. H. Raymond Schroeder will officiate.
