Edna R. Williams, 96, of Benton Township, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at her home.
Services celebrating her life will be held at Noon on Friday, January 5, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township with Pastor T.J. Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery. The visitation will begin at 11 AM on Friday at the Fairplain Chapel. Please share words of caring or memories at www.florin. net.
Edna was born July 4, 1927 in Parkin, AK to Willie and Mary Hicks. She received a certificate as a nurse's aid. She was employed at several places including Berrien General Hospital and Shoreham Nursing Home. Edna was employed at Shoreham for over 20 years before retiring. She married her husband, Walter Williams, and after many years of marriage he preceded her in death. She was the last of 25 brothers and sisters. Over the years Edna attended the Progressive Missionary Baptist, Jesus Lives Here, and the Word of Truth churches. She enjoyed going to church, singing, and reading the bible. Edna loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Her family includes her children, Sandra White of Benton Harbor, Ella Franklin of Benton Harbor, Darlene White of Indianapolis, and Paula Davis of Mishawaka; and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Edna was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Valerie Triplett and Regina Richmond; 1 son, Willie White; 2 granddaughters, Dorothy and Mary Peace; 1 great grandson, Darwin White, Jr.; her brothers, Aristor, O.B., A.W., Booker T., Henry and Sammie Hicks and her sisters, Mary Gray, Lirlee Hicks, L.Z. Johnson, Plutt Hicks, Jeanette Hicks, and Senolia Hicks. She was also preceded by 13
half-brothers and half sisters.
