Tribute to Bro. Ed Echavez
Bro. Ed and I met in 1997 when I was invited to attend a Christian Life Program in Couples for Christ. He was one of the pioneers leading this life changing movement here in Illinois.
I had a solid Catholic upbringing . I was raised by an aunt, a younger sister of my father, who was very devout and religious. In college, I graduated from UST ( the Catholic University of the Philippines) but my renewal as an adult came only after I finished the CLP of Couples for Christ. My love of God became much deeper and my faith and worship in Him more personally alive.
Bro. ED was very instrumental in my renewal. The teachings he gave and his public professions of faith were very inspiring. They gave me so much motivations to curve my own eternal destiny. When I finished the program with my spouse Deanne; Bro. Ed, Sis. Olive, and we sealed our fraternity in the CFC family for life.
At the time, CFC was growing fast so very shortly Deanne and I assumed household and unit leaderships under the care of Bro. Ed and Sis. Olive. Bro. Ed's broad knowledge of and passion on his faith were truly inspiring and as our leader, he helped nurtured us to grow our own. His dedication and service to God and his own family were very exceptional. He was truly a shepherd chosen by God to lead many of His people back to him. These included us and many whom we helped to lead with Bro. Ed.
For all the great work that Bro. Ed in his mortal life gave to God, I truly believe that his path to Heaven will be very rewarding. I will continue to remember Bro. Ed in my prayers and I believe that in time, he will also remember us when he prays Up There.
Godspeed, Bro. Ed . Rest in Peace and may God's eternal Iight shine on you forever.
Amen.
