Edvidge was the beloved matriarch of a large and devoted family. She was the cherished mother of eight children; Cheryl Dutsch, James Goodin, Margaret Gorby, Mary Ridenhour, Wesley Davis, Donna Lehman, Harry Davis and Elizabeth Mathison. Her legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren – Joey Dutsch, Paul Dutsch, Crissy O'Neil, Alice Goodin, Anna Goodin, Victoria Goodin, Heather Gorby, Stephanie Penrod, Ryan Ridenhour, Kelly Smith-Rodenhour, Troy Lehman, Olivia Lehman, Daniel Lehman, Brett Davis, Brian Mathison, and Emily Mathison – 15 great-grandchildren – Jared Dutsch, Gabby Dutsch, Harrison Dutsch, Eli Dutsch, Lucy Crutchfield, Walter Goodin, Olga Lowry, Bianca Goodin, Jimmy Bechter, Stella Bechter, Russell Penrod, Scotland Ridenhour, Juniper Smith-Ridenhour, Cosette Lehman and Ryder Davis – and two great-great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Lowry and Logan Lowry. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lemuel A. Davis; her parents Edwin J Berault and Mary Victoria Hiern-Berault; and her siblings Maris Mercier, Cecile Veglia, Emma Mittlesteadt, and Juanita Lewis.
Edvidge's life was marked by unwavering faith and devotion to God. A woman of deep Christian conviction and prayerful spirit, she was known as a prayer champion for her family – lifting countless prayers on behalf of her children and their descendants. Her love for God was evident in every aspect of her life. She lived with remarkable fortitude and grace well in her centenarian years.
Known affectionately as "Mom" or "Eddie Girl", Edvidge had a generous heart and a keen eye for finding joy in simple things. With a tight budget and a large family to care for, she became a true Yard Sale Connoisseur. Her grandchildren fondly remember the "Magic Closet" in her bedroom – a treasure trove of yard sale finds hidden for them to discover with delight.
In her 90's, Edvidge remained actively engaged in service to others. She played a lead role at her church's (Riverview UMC) Second Hand Store where she helped raise funds for mission projects. She was also a dedicated member of a church Prayer Group and served as a board member for a non profit foundation Logos, Light and Life.
Her love extended beyond people to nature as well – she took great pride in tending to her yard and caring for her flowers and shrubs over the years. But above all else, Edvidge's greatest legacy is the spiritual foundation she laid for her family: to love God wholeheartedly, read the bible faithfully, and dedicate time daily to prayerful devotion. Jesus was her Lord.
She previously shared with loved ones what death meant to her: "Absent from the body and present with the Lord." Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has entered into eternal peace.
A private family gathering will be held at a future date as a time of tribute and remembrance. Sympathy cards and or flowers may be sent to the family home.
May her memory be a guiding light to all who knew and loved her.
