Edward Ames

Edward Ames was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He relocated to Paterson, New Jersey after his birth along with his family.
He attended Public School No. 18 from kindergarten to eighth grade. Edward then attended Eastside High School where he played football as a running back. He was one of the fastest running back players at that time, and was in several newspapers for his talent.
He received a scholarship from Delaware State University for football, he only played for one year. During his four years at Delaware State University, he pledged the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, they said "it was unbelievable because he was a lone dog." Which meant he was the only one on line, they said, "when he went over it was a spectacular sight to see." When the curtain opened he was on a cross, he came off the cross down the stairs marching the que steps. The students at the college talked about his performance until this day.
He graduated and became employed with McGraw Hill Publishing Company for several years. He then came back to Paterson and worked in the Paterson Educational System.
Edward resided with his sister; Bessie until he became ill.
He leaves to cherish wonderful memories his sisters; Bessie and Claudia Ames, one brother; Curtis Ames, one nephew; Sheron Ames, two nieces; Vantasha Jones and Tori Ames and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
