Edward Anton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home on Apr. 26, 2025.
Exeter, NH-Edward E. Anton, 79, passed peacefully at Exeter Hospital on Thursday, March 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Marjorie R. (Kraemer) Anton. He is survived by his children, Laurie Berry & husband Chris of North Hampton, NH; and Richard Anton & wife Rebecca Myers of Wilmington; three grandchildren, CJ and Drew Berry, and Lillian Anton; his sister, Patricia Elliot; nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his sister, Joan Craffey, and brother, Joseph Anton.
Ed was born in Bridgewater, MA, son of the late Edward & Mary (Renski) Anton. He grew up in Milton, MA and was a graduate of Milton High School class of 1964 where he enjoyed many sports and participated in indoor and outdoor track. In high school he was known for being a hard worker- working many part time jobs and as an apprentice for his father's custom home building company. He went on to pursue degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. Ed spent his professional career as Program Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation and worked for several tech companies before ultimately retiring. Ed and Marjorie met while working at Digital and raised their family in Acton, where they remained actively involved in their community. Ed and Marj enjoyed sports and athletics and played tennis with friends and their family for many years. In addition, he loved to coach Little League and watch his children and grandchildren play sports. Ed also took pleasure in cooking, gardening, and the arts and was talented in drawing and painting, loved listening and dancing to music (rock and roll and polka) and played the accordion and organ. He grew up deep sea fishing off of the south shore and always enjoyed spending time along the coast and eating seafood. Above all, he was happiest in the company of family and will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Service arrangements are pending while entrusted to the care of Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com

Our deepest condolences to the family of Ed, he was a resident in our building here at 6 Meeting Place Dr. in Exeter... although my husband and myself did not know Marge and Ed for very long... about 5 years, they were always pleasant to us. May God Bless his family and may Ed rest peacefully.

I had the pleasure of spending many hours with Eddy at the high jump pit in winter and spring track practice and meets. He was often my coach in critiquing my form from the educated perspective of a peer who watched me jump every day. I had a great relationship with this friendly, kind, and caring teammate, and I'm sure all who knew him will miss him.
