Edward Eugene Baker, age 67, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2026.

Edward was the beloved husband of Kathy Baker and a devoted father to Tiffany Airwyke (husband Trent Airwyke), Buddie Baker (fiancé Jennifer Hastings), and Wendi Naumovski (husband Mike Naumovski). He was a proud and deeply involved grandfather to Layla Airwyke, Gracie Airwyke, Luka Miller, Xavior Gray, and Gabriel (“Gabby”) Jones, and a cherished great-grandfather to Izabella Jones and Luna Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Baker and Viola Worley, and his sister, Cindy Turner. He is survived by his brother, Robert Baker Jr. (wife Margaret Baker). Edward was also lovingly guided by Jerry and Von Brumma, whom he looked up to as parents, and he considered David Brumma (wife Lori) and Todd Brumma (wife Anna) to be brothers in every way that mattered. He shared a special friendship with Gary Bonam, whose companionship and loyalty meant so much to him.

Edward retired after a hardworking career with Fleming Foods and as a truck driver for Coon Restoration. He was rarely seen wearing a shirt, often joking about needing his “Paw Paw shirt,” and lived life comfortably, honestly, and fully.

Just hours before his passing, Edward was at home, happy and full of life, doing what he did best — video calling his children and grandchildren, because he always wanted to see their faces. His sudden passing was completely unexpected and has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Known for his big bear hugs and the words he spoke daily to his wife, daughters, and granddaughters — “Have I ever told you you’re beautiful?” — Edward made sure the women he loved most always felt seen and cherished. He had a heart for serving others, always willing to stop what he was doing to help someone, lend a hand, or make life a little easier for anyone who needed it.

Edward loved to teach and share his skills, especially with his children and grandchildren. He was endlessly patient, never rushing, always encouraging, and took joy in watching others learn and succeed.

Edward showed up for every sporting event and every dance practice and was, without question, the biggest cheerleader his family could ever have. He loved playing with his grandbabies, sitting with them, and simply listening to them talk — fully present and soaking in every word.

He loved fishing with his son, hunting, floating in the pool, grilling, and making whatever “slop” he could throw together. He was always tinkering with something — fixing, adjusting, or improving whatever caught his attention. He took great pride in his perfectly green lawn — so much so that no one was allowed to walk on it — and if you did, he definitely noticed. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel important. His greatest joy was his family, and his beloved dogs, Daisy and Roxy, were never far from his side.

Edward Eugene Baker lived with his whole heart, loved fiercely, served generously, and left this world far too soon — but deeply loved beyond measure.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 7th 4 - 6:30pm, service to start at 4:30pm, at the Ninth Street Event Center, located at 1008 9th Street SW, Massillon, Ohio 44647.
