Edward T. Beals, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in 1931, he was the son of Thomas and Ruth Beals. He attended Hampton High School before joining the United States Army. Edward served honorably during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was stationed in the Philippines, where he supported critical communications operations.
Following his military service, he worked in plant management in both the road construction and coal mining industries, earning a reputation for hard work, reliability, and dedication.
Throughout his life, Ed enjoyed raising his family and found great pleasure in working in his woodshop, reading, watching westerns, boating, hunting, tending to his home and land in Kings Mountain, and fishing at his winter home in Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, L. Kathryn Beals, his God-given partner and constant companion. Their marriage stood as a testimony to faith, commitment, and enduring love.
He is also survived by his sons, Thomas Beals (wife Kim), Robert Beals (wife Beth), and Edward Beals, Jr. (wife Nancy).
He was a proud grandfather to Laura Stinger (husband Sam Stinger), Sarah Beals, Hannah Beals, Emma Beals, Nathan Beals (wife Victoria), Josh Beals, Lindsey Beals, Britney Beals, and Courtney Beals, and a cherished great-grandfather to Phoenix Reign Smith, Hendrix Moon Smith, John Robert "Jack" Beals, and Max Martin Beals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruth Beals, and his brothers, George R. Beals, William Beals, and Roy Beals.
Viewing will be held at Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066, on Monday, December 15, from 1:00–3:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 16, at 11:00 AM, with interment afterward at Mount Royal Cemetery, where he will rest alongside other members of his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Edward's honor to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, 237 Whipkey Dam Rd., Rockwood, PA 15557. Please designate "Food for the Soul" on the check.
He will be remembered for the countless ways he cared for those he loved-through his hard work, his wisdom, his humor, and his steady, comforting presence as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those fortunate enough to have known him will carry his love, his lessons, and his quiet strength in their hearts forever.
