Edward Austin Berkel

Edward Berkel passed peacefully at home on December 2, 2024. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He married Emma Haworth on September 12, 1967.
He and his wife, Emma, moved to Okeechobee, Florida after his retirement from Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 630 out of West Palm Beach, Florida. He loved to travel, spend time with his family, mudding on four wheelers, and playing cards. He was a member of the VFW, Moose, and Eagles. He lived with his oldest daughter, Gloria, in LaBelle, Florida until his death.
He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Berkel was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Emma Berkel.
He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Fairchild, of LaBelle, Florida, Donna McCool, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Peggy Eltz, of West Palm Beach, Florida; son, Edward Austin Berkel, II, of Naples, Florida; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
