Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Princess Anne Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
Edward "Ed" Boyser, 86, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, sharing old stories, and even cracking his famous "Ed" jokes. He joins his wife of 59 years, Carol, in heaven. Ed was born on July 14, 1939, in Albany, New York, to John L and Helen Rolfe Boyser. He grew up alongside his brother, Robert (Bob), and his sisters, Shirley Olmstead and Marlene Crowley. After high school, Ed proudly joined the United States Navy, where he distinguished himself through years of dedicated service, and proudly retired after 21 years as a Chief Petty Officer.
Ed being an avid sportsman loved being in nature, fishing and hunting. From trips to Canada and upstate New York to time at his summer camp in North Carolina, he lived much of his life in the great outdoors. He loved to dance, play pool and shoot darts. Ed was a skilled craftsman - well known for tying colorful fishing flies, whittling and building small pieces of furniture.
He and his wife shared three daughters, and through them he became the beloved "Pop Pop" to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ed is survived by his sister, Marlene; his children, MaryEllen Cascio, Coleen Wehner (Paul), and Helen Boyser; his grandchildren, Holly Young (Phillip), Edward Bennett (Sarah), Katie Cascio, Amber Wehner, Cameron Wehner (Ciera), and Steven Boyser (Jenna); his great-grandchildren, Kayla Bennett, Karleigh Young, Andrew Bennett, Mason Bennett, Liam Sofia, and Berkeley Boyser; and his nephews, Mark and Steven Crowley. His family will miss him terribly.
A memorial visitation will be held on January 25, 2026, from 3–4 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown, Princess Anne Chapel, 3445 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. A graveside service will follow on January 26, 2026, from 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
The family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to their local VFW in Ed's name.
