Edward Buchanan Obituary
Edwardsville - Edward "Buck" Buchanan, age 84, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 2:44 pm on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at SSM St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Buck was born on June 29, 1938, in Nashville, TN, the son of the late Charles & Rose (Bieser) Buchanan. Buck married Marikaye Buchanan. Besides is his wife of 18 years, Buck is survived by four daughters, Karen Malench of Downers Grove, IL, Kathleen Bondi & husband Thomas of Downers Grove, IL, Kristina Hicks & husband Jon, of Silverhill, AL; Kerri Buchanan Stoltz & husband Scott of Glen Carbon, IL; and stepdaughter, Katherine St. Aubin, of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren, Grace Vires, Hannah Downing, Delaney Rose Bates, Luke Edward Bondi, Dallason Hicks, Madison Hicks, Lute Buchanan Stoltz; six great grandchildren, Harrison Vires, Avery, Caden, & Nola Downing, Kerrigan & Wesley Rose Bates; a brother, John Buchanan, of Nashville, TN; and a sister, Betty Ann Fugate, of Franklin, TN; and many nieces, nephews, & friends. Besides his parents, Buck was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Buchanan III; and a sister, Trudy Buchanan. Buck served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959. He was a member of the Edwardsville Knights of Columbus. Buck was an avid volunteer of the Glen-Ed Pantry and Cahokia Mounds. He will be cremated according to his wishes. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with the Very Rev. Jeffrey H. Goeckner. A private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date. The family requests memorials to St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD & Glen-Ed Pantry of Edwardsville, IL, in care of Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.
