Ed Burns inspired all of us young officers not only to be strong and firm, but also kind and gentle at the appropriate times. He taught us all to be better people.

Ed Burns was a very special man. He had a heart of gold and made a lasting impression on me. I am blessed to have known him. My condolences to his friends and family.

Ed was indeed the "calm Sarge" as Gary commented. I know he will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Ed was very kind to me back in my LFPD dispatching days. I know he and Splatter are happily together again patrolling heavens gates.

Ed touched so many folks during his life. He will be greatly missed and a part of LFPD goes with him. Rest in peace my old friend

Ed was a great mentor to many a young Police Officers during the expansion of LFPD. His gentle guidance helped form many long careers. He will be greatly missed but be within us all who knew him until we see him again.
