In loving memory of

Edward Lee Carlson 1945-2025

Ed went home to be with his Lord on Monday, August 25, 2025 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Zane and Evelyn Carlson, and his sisters Marilyn Bosch and his infant sister, Ellen Sue. He and his wife Sandra has been married for 60 years. Ed was a loving father of two sons, Russell (Debra) and Robert (Amber). He is survived by two brothers, Jack (Kathleen), Marvin (Deb) and a sister Beverly (Don) Olsen. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Ed served in the US Navy for 4 years from 1965-1969 as a radioman aboard the USS J.P Kennedy. After service he went to work for the trucking industry as a dispatcher. He worked for several truck lines during his career and always loved what he did. He was always there for his two boys, he liked to be involved in their activities, including being on the sidelines of their soccer games in the snow yelling at the refs, offering them his glasses so they could see better. He liked to be in the background of church activities, setting up for events, preparing and serving food. He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart.

After retirement, he took up woodworking and spent hours in his workshop making puzzles to sell at craft shows. Ed also sang and traveled with a men's chorus, "The Singing Crusaders" which he loved. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help without ever complaining. In 2019 he and his wife moved to Florida from Michigan to be closer to family and farther from snow. They made their home in Holiday, Florida.

About a year after the move he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which was very hard for him. His mind wasted away, but he kept his sense of humor even though he didn't understand what was happening. The last two months of his life he could no longer communicate. When all was said and done, he fought the good fight and finished the race and God welcomed him home.
