Edward was the son of Luther and Hulda Cheek of Durham and Ruth, the daughter of William and Lucy Ellis of Wilkesboro. Edward is survived by one brother, Jack Cheek, and wife Carrie Lee of Durham, and had an older brother, Glen R. Cheek (wife Virginia) of Merritt Island, FL. The couple were active members of Kena Temple Shrine and the Alexandria Lions Club. Eddie and Ruth were married for 56 years, loving parents to Michael, Douglas and Steven, as well as grandparents to five and great-grandparents to three. Ruth is also survived by one brother, John Ellis of Jonesville, NC.
The graveside service will be held at Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a reception immediately following at the Cane Creek Church Activity Center.

Eddie Cheek passed away on August 2, 2011 at his home in Alexandria, VA. Born in Durham, NC, the youngest of three sons of Luther and Hulda Cheek, he graduated from Durham High School in 1950 and enlisted in the Air Force until 1975. After his Air Force career, he was involved in the State Department overseas construction and security issues. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Nebraska in Omaha.
A MeRuth passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at age 90, peacefully, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Edward R. Cheek for 56 yrs and loving mother to Michael, Douglas and Steven. Beloved grandmother of five; great-grandmother of three. She is also survived by one brother, John Ellis of Wilkesboro, NC. She was loved by her devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. She and her husband were longtime members of Kena Temple Shrine and the Alexandria Lions Club.
Eddie and Ruth Cheek actively participated in civic and Masonic affairs for more than fifty years.
