Edward Gerald Cooley, Sr., 88, of Mayo, SC passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at White Oak at North Grove.
Born October 16, 1936 in Spartanburg, SC, Edward was the son of the late Sumpter “Sump” Cooley and Mary Elizabeth Foster Cooley. He spent much of his life self-employed in construction and tending his farm. He was of the Christian faith.
Edward is survived by sons, Gerald Cooley (Angie) of Lyman, SC, Glenn Cooley, Sr. of Mayo, SC; daughters, Alisa Britt (Steve) of Chesnee, SC, Sheila Gregory (Scott) of Chesnee, SC; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters: Jenny Lou Bailey, E. Ann Foster and Rosemary Cooley; and eight brothers: William (Bill) Cooley, David Cooley, Jack Cooley, John Cooley, Ronnie Cooley, Gary Cooley, Michael (Mike) Cooley and Glenn Cooley.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:50 on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
All arrangements are entrusted into the care and under the direction of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary, 864-461-7788.
