Travis Cooley, Sr. Obituary

Funeral service for Travis Earl Cooley Sr., 58, will be Wednesday, November 22, at 12:00 pm, at the Oconee Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Oliver Gaston officiating. Interment will follow at Jenifer Cemetery. Mr. Cooley passed away on November 14, 2023, in Birmingham, AL Mr. Cooley's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. He graduated from Munford High School, the Pittard Vocational School and Welding School. He enlisted in the Alabama National Guard of 167 the Infantry Regiment for 20 years. Mr. Cooley also retired after 20 years of service from Honda Manufacturing of Alabama. Survivors include his wife: Deliska Burton Cooley; son: Travis (Isabel) Cooley,Jr.; daughters: April (Irish) Cooley, Sydni Cooley and Skyla Cooley; his mother: Ernestine McElderry Cooley; siblings: Jerry Cooley, Jacqueline Cooley; grandchildren: Travis Cooley III, Tristan Cooley; aunt Lola C. Stephens; nephew: Bobby Cooley; mother in-law: Carolyn C. Burton; sister in-law: Deidra (Torriana) Brown; special friends: Traci Pleasant, Donovan Thomas, Freddie Green, and Carl Byers, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Lee Cooley, father in-law, Jessie Hayes Burton, uncles, Otis Tarrant, Willie James McElderry, aunts, Princess McElderry, Edna Jones, Daisy Lucille Colley, Dorthulla Miller; cousin, Kathy N. My deepest sympathy to the family. Travis and I go back to the old Energy Asorbtion days. I counted him as a good friend. Super nice guy, couldn't say enough about him. A fighter, he never gave up or give in.
