Edward Eugene Crotts

Edward Eugene "Eddie" Crotts, 83, of rural LeRoy, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at his home.

He was born March 18, 1942, in Virgil, KS, the son of Virgil and Alice (Porter) Crotts. The family lived in the Virgil area for a short time before moving to LeRoy. Eddie graduated from LeRoy High School and then attended Clark's Business School. He went to work for Sante Fe in Topeka and soon decided city life was not for him and moved back to LeRoy to farm.

On October 16, 1964, he and Carol Sue Cooksey were married at the United Methodist Church in Burlington. They became the parents of three children, Tamara, Lori, and Jeff. Eddie continued his farming while Carol was employed at the Wolf Creek Generating Station.

Carol, his wife of more then 54 years, preceded him in death on February 16, 2019. He was also preceded by his parents and two sisters, Lucretia "Lou" Spencer and Patricia "Pat" McGhee.

He leaves his children, Tamara Brownfield (Marty), Lenexa, KS, Lori Garland (Kevin), LeRoy, KS, and Jeff Crotts (Amy), Lake Lotawana, MO; six grandchildren, Ariele Lucio (Kramer), Sydney Brandenburg (Cory), Kristen Ellington (Brandon), and Jaret, Logan, and Brooke Crotts; three great-grandchildren, Hadlee and Whitlee Ellington and Callum Brandenburg; sisters, Viola Wilson, Hartford, KS, and Marilyn Foltz (Butch), Garnett, KS; brothers, Larry Crotts (Catherine), Burlington, KS, and Bruce Crotts (Maria), Henderson, NV; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 15, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
