Edward Czelazewicz, Sr., 89, of Newington, and Charlestown, RI, beloved husband of Pamela Rahm Czelazewicz, died on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. Born at 37 Day Street, in Newington, on August 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank Joseph Czelazewicz of Waldawa, Poland and Newington, and Mary Alexandra Malinowski of Lomza, Poland and Newington. Edward was a life-long resident of Newington where he made his home and raised his beloved family. Ed was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather first and retired Newington Police Officer second. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Orleans, France from February 1958 through February 1960. He was a clerk typist in the 760th medical detachment. Eddie was a member of the Newington Police, Fraternal Order of Police, the Police Association of Connecticut, the Interstate Police Officers Association, Inc. and the Newington Police Alumni Association. Most of all, Ed loved sports, playing softball, football and basketball for much of his lifetime. In later years, family was Ed's priority, enjoying time with grandkids at Shady Harbor, fishing, clamming and boating. Together for 55 years, Ed is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Pamela Rahm Czelazewicz of Newington, his sons Edward and his wife Barbara, Steven and his wife Laura, his daughter DeRondé Czelazewicz, five beloved grandchildren, Julia, Nathan, Steven, Sabrina and Shane Wyatt Czelazewicz, great grandson James and great granddaughter Evelyn. He also leaves his sister-in-law Linda Rahm and her partner Lorraine Libby, nieces and nephews and their families, friends and a brotherhood of officers and their families. He was predeceased by his son Ricky, brother Frank and sisters Aldona and Alfreda. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 17th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington.
