Edward Dickerson, 64, of Ithaca, NY, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 after a brief illness, with his family and children by his side. Born on December 1, 1959, in Ithaca, NY, to Art Dickerson and Penelope Evans, Edward was a beloved father, brother, partner, and friend who lived a life full of love, laughter, and joy. As a child Edward was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a great lover of animals. He loved his childhood dog Tippy, and was known for bringing animals home like Rascal the raccoon, Rynard the fox, Charlie the squirrel, and Falcon the falcon. Edward attended Ithaca High School and South Seneca High School, where he showcased his talents as a football player, but really excelled as a hockey player, which was a lifelong passion. After graduating South Seneca in 1979, Edward started an apprentice with the IBEW Local 241 and later dedicated over 30 years of service to Cornell University. His commitment to his craft and his colleagues was evident as he rose to become the president of the IBEW Local 241, earning many friends throughout his accomplished career. Beyond his professional life, Edward was an avid outdoorsman who cherished hunting, fishing, and spending time on the lake. His weekend plans usually consisted of fishing on Cayuga Lake with his brother Doug. He was a voracious reader - if he wasn't fishing he was reading, with a particular fondness for Stephen King and A Game of Thrones (dracarys). A die-hard sports fan, Edward loyally supported the NY Giants, NY Yankees, and frequently attended Cornell hockey games. Known for his sense of humor, Edward loved to laugh, play pranks, and was a regular at local spots like the Fall Creek House and The Glenwood Pines. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Art Dickerson and Penelope Evans, his daughter Danielle, and granddaughter Rowan. He leaves behind a loving family, including his three children: Courtney (Grant) McAuslan and their daughter Isla, Michael (Hannah) Dickerson, and Alex (Will) Dickerson. He is also survived by his siblings: Douglas (Deborah) Dickerson, Diane Mead, Marcia (Mark) Rusboldt, his longtime partner Apryll Clark, his grandson Dean, and his beloved dog Pip. His memory will also be cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Edward was known for his immense kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Memorial Service Information for website: A Celebration of Life for Edward (Eddie) Dickerson will be held on Friday, July 26th at the central shelter pavilion in Taughannock Falls State Park from 12-3pm. Senior citizen drivers who show their license at entry will not need to pay the park entry fee.

I was truly sadden to hear about Ed. We graduated high school together, and he was such a great guy. He was kind and funny; we shared many laughs together. I will miss him at our 45th class reunion in 2 weeks; he and my cousin Joe popped in at the reunion 5 years ago to surprise me, and what a great surprise it was! My sincere thoughts and prayers to Courtney, Michael and Alex on the loss of your Dad and to Apryll and all his family. Rest easy, Ed. You will be missed....

Hugs,
Carol Murphy
