Edward Donohue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molden Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service on Dec. 11, 2025.
Edward "Ed" Joseph Donohue, the world's most devoted dad and accidental comedian, sadly left the stage of life on December 6, 2025, at the age of 59. Born in Philadelphia on April 12, 1966, and raised in the small town of Croydon, Pennsylvania, Ed was a man whose hands were as skilled as his heart was large. He departed this earth in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in a tragic incident that reminds us all to look both ways and to never skip breakfast-because, as Ed would say, "the first meal of the day is always the most important, without it you'll be in a bad mood, and it's not good to be in a bad mood."
Ed was the loving father of Molly Donohue, the absolute highlight of his life. With Molly, every moment was a punchline waiting to happen, and every bike ride was an adventure into the realms of their shared laughter. His love for Molly was a love so pure that nothing will ever quite capture its depth. Ed's family, including his beloved mother Janet Ayres and his sisters Janet,Ginny, Karen, and Joyce. know all too well how Eddie could light up a room, making life feel like a never-ending front-row seat at the funniest show on earth.
After obtaining his GED and wielding a few tech school certifications for welding, Ed forged a path as a remarkably talented welder. His career was his second act; a show of sparks and flames in which he played the leading role until his final curtain call. His work ethic was no joke; he always had his torch at the ready and was well-known for crafting metal with the same finesse that he crafted his jokes-effortlessly and with impeccable timing.
Fishing was the dad-daughter duo's favorite script for bonding. They made more than just ripples in the water; they created memories that Molly will forever treasure like a prized catch. The open road was their comedy club as they pedaled around town, with each journey seemingly guided by the whispering of bicycle spokes saying: "Take your time, make a memory, share a laugh."
Ed's love of food was no secret-it was his second favorite thing next to Molly. As he often declared with a worried look, "you have to eat, or you won't feel good later on." He made breakfast one of the most important parts of his day, and he'd make it even better by spending it with his daughter.
Describing Eddie is easy because he was a true original-a man who was loving, funny, and intelligent. He embodies the spirit of the quote by the great stand-up philosopher Robin Williams, "Everyone is given a spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Ed's spark of madness set his life ablaze with joy, laughter, and an endless array of creativity and chaos.
As we bid farewell to Ed, let us remember that although his time on this grand stage has ended, the mark he left is indelible. His laughter rings out in the hearts of those who loved him, and his wisdom-dispensed through punchlines and genuine affection-lives on. Let us honor his memory by embracing the joy he shared and the love he propagated through every joke cracked, every fish caught, and every bicycle bell rung.
Edward Joseph Donohue, you may have exited stage left, but the encore of your life's joyous performance will echo for generations.
