Edward Duphiney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory - R. Lee Williams Chapel on Dec. 20, 2024.
Edward J. Duphiney entered Eternal Life on Dec. 9, 2024, in the loving care of his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty Woods) in Altamonte Springs, FL.
Ed was born in Pawtucket, RI on December 24, 1941, to the late Mary E. (Taylor) Duphiney and Nelson F. Duphiney. He graduated from St. Edward's Elementary, Junior High School, and St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket. He then graduated with a Business & Accounting Degree from Providence College. After graduating, he became the Controller at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, RI for several years where he met and married his wife, Betty. After he left the hospital he became the Treasurer for the Carlson Construction Group in Boston, MA. His career progressed which moved him to other positions with different companies. He retired from his career as an accountant at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, RI.
He had two sons, Mark and his wife Angela, and their son Joshua of Sanford, FL, and Brian and his wife Ashley and their son Nathan of Cranston, RI, all of whom he loved dearly.
He attended daily Mass from a young age. After moving to Lincoln, RI he became a Catechist at St. Jude Church and St. Charles Church in Providence, RI. When he moved to Florida, he taught Religious Education at Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood and was involved with a Prison Ministry for Seminole County.
From a very young age, Ed enjoyed sports, both participating and watching all the New England professional sports teams. His greatest desire, and with great enthusiasm, was to watch his alma mater's Providence College basketball team crush the opposing team.
Besides his immediate family, Ed leaves a brother Nelson (wife Jeanne) of Providence, RI, two sisters, Elaine M. Duphiney of Providence, RI, his sister Catherine E. (Duphiney) Albin and her husband Leo F., of Warwick, RI, and a Sister-in-Law Sr. Arlene Woods, RSM. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews and is pre-deceased by his sister Mary E. ( Duphiney) Williams, and her husband Robert.
Ed will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and loved ones. We will miss his great kindness and his wonderful sense of humor!
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Jan. 7, 2025, at the Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood, FL at 11 am. Following the Mass, his burial will occur at the Queen of Angels Cemetery in Winter Park, FL.

I just heard about Edward today and am so sorry. I haven´t seen him since he lived in Lincoln around the corner from my brother John Mullen. I live in Winter Springs and never knew he lived so close. I go to San Pedro church so will say a prayer for him. I spent 17 years on Ivy St and have many memories of the Duphineys. Edward was in my class at St Edward´s for 9 years.
