Edward Dyck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2009.
Edward Dyck was born on January 22, 1942 in Loon Lake to Henry and Agatha Dyck, along with his twin brother, Wilfred, they had a record birth weight total of 22 lbs. He started courting his future bride in 1963 and on January 21, 1966 he married Deanna Rae Broten of Brightsand, SK. Edward operated a cat for Alex McDonald for numerous years on and off while living in the Turtleford area. Ed also worked in bush camps and ranched with Bert Cadieu in Spiritwood. They moved to Hinton, AB in 1970 after the birth of their first two children, Darren Edward in 1967 and Deborah Anne in 1969. Ed then worked for Cardinal River Coals in Luscar, AB driving a mining truck. In 1973 their third child, Marlin Dean was born. In 1977 the love of small town living brought Ed & Deanna back to Turtlerford, SK where they purchased a small acreage. Ed worked at various construction jobs and driving cat again for Alex. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake camping with family and friends, working with horses and raising animals on their acreage. His greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there to lend a helping hand, give advice or to add some humour to the situation. In later years Ed enjoyed making wood projects. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry and Agatha Dyck; his brothers, Walter, Gordon, George and Jim; his two sisters, Anne and Agnes; and beloved family friend, Carmen LaBrash. Edward leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Deanna; his son, Darren (Tammy), Tanya, Bowie and Luke; his daughter, Deb (Rob), Devan (Les), Jordan and Zachary; his son, Marlin (Tamara), Ashton and Ethan; his siblings, Wilfred, Robert (Kaye), Roger (Mary), Bertha (John) and Ken; and numerous nieces and nephews.
