Mr. Edward J. Dygert, age 73, affectionately remembered as “Eddie” & “E.J.” passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27th, 2025, at the Abraham House in Rome, New York.
He was born on October 16th, 1951, in Albany, New York, a son of the late Robert W. and Mary (Grzeszczuk) Dygert and graduated from Ilion High School, “Class of 1969.” He went on to receive an associate's degree from Mohawk Valley Community College in Mechanical Engineering. While there he was the recipient of a certificate in electrical engineering and a certificate in surveying. Additionally, he received a two-year degree from United Technical Institute in Architectural Drafting.
He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and International Honor Society. His working career was with Leeson Electric, Motronics Corporation in Little Falls, New York, and lastly with Remington Arms. As an employee he demonstrated a history of trustworthiness, reliability and loyalty. He was a problem solver. His talents were appreciated by other reputable local companies inclusive to Empire Fiber Glass, Opto Generic Devices, Delhi Steel Corporation, and Janis A. Liepins, Engineer.
He is survived by several friends and cousins. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Abraham House of Rome for their compassionate and dedicated care.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 1st, 2025, at 10:30 AM at The Applegate, Day, & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road in Ilion, New York, and interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, NY.
Relatives and friends may attend calling hours at the funeral home on Friday morning, one hour prior to the funeral service from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM and attend the services that follow.
