Edward Chernick was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and reunited with his loving wife of 57 years on July 20, 2023 at Central Wyoming Hospice.

Ed was born in Casper, Wyoming on September 7, 1938 to Blanche and Leo Chernick.  He attended Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1956.  Ed enlisted with the United States Marine Corp in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962.

When Ed returned to Casper, he went to work for First National Bank of Casper.  He worked at the bank for his entire career and retired from First Interstate Bank after 43 years of service.  While working at the bank, he met the love of his life, Alice Sjostrom.  They married in 1964.  They had three daughters, Tonja, Kim and Jennifer.

Family always held a special place in Ed’s heart.  His favorite phrase was “I love you more” and “be careful!”  Those words will be forever cherished by family and friends.

Ed was always quick-witted and ready to tell a joke.  Along with his jokes, he always had stories to tell and had the most updated information on what was happening at the nearby fishing holes.   He loved the tranquility of nature while fishing and hunting or playing a round of golf.  He was also an avid “Southpaw” bowler.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, numerous siblings, and his faithful wife, Alice Chernick.  He is survived by his three children; Tonja Funch (Chris), Kim Pelton (Mike) and Jennifer Chernick, his grandchild, Abigail Funch, his sister, Jo Ann Legerski and numerous nieces and nephews.

As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the extraordinary life that he led – a life built on integrity, kindness and an unwavering devotion to family.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home located at 600 CY Ave., Casper WY.  A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations of bird seed to Central Wyoming Hospice would be greatly appreciated.  Ed spent countless hours with the wonderful caring staff watching the birds who came to visit daily including red headed finches, robins, sparrows, doves, pigeons, turkeys and even blue jays.  The squirrels were also a source of amusement.

A special thank you goes to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions for the care and love Ed and his family received.  You will be forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 AM at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home, Casper, WY.
