Edward Charles Edwards

Edward Charles Edwards, age 84, passed away peacefully on July, 28th 2025.

Born on May 14th, 1941, Ed lived a full life. A star wide-receiver on the Valley Stream Central High School varsity football team, Eddie Edwards honed his love for the game and relished in the outlet for his competitive spirit. His streak for success followed him throughout his 38-year career as a history teacher at Paul D. Schreiber High School, Port Washington, where he inspired countless students and coached a fierce mock trial team to many storied victories throughout his tenure.

Ed was so sharp and knowledgeable about all of the happenings in the world. He was the kind of man who read the paper cover to cover, and stayed up to date on everything from the weather forecast to the latest in geopolitics. But Ed was also deeply soft-hearted - often getting his beloved wife Diane multiple cards on special occasions just to be sure he could express all of his love. He always showed up. He stayed steady. And it's that strong presence we'll all miss so dearly.

Ed is preceded in death by his step-daughter Kim. He is survived by his wife Diane, his step-son Paul (Nina), step-granddaughters Tara (Victoria), Jeanine (Harrison), his children Lisa Edwards Bigge, Tim (Cindy) Edwards, Chris Edwards, Chad Edwards, Lauren Edwards Harrington, and Leonie Edwards Moon. Grandchildren: Ayla, Aaron, Michaela, Jace, Sam, Max, Mia, Ashley, and Erin. Great grandchildren: Mia, Rex, Annalise, and Miles.

A private service will be held on August 4, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you rep the Brooklyn Dodgers, make sure to warn your loved ones when a storm is about to hit, and always say "yes" to your grandparent's request to just sleepover.
