Edward J. Faraday, Sr. - lovingly known as Eddie - peacefully passed away on October 29, 2025. He was 92 years young.
Born on March 13, 1933, on the west side of New York City during the Great Depression, Eddie spent his first 14 years at St. Agatha's Home for Children in Nanuet, NY. A true "city kid," he eventually returned to New York, where he met the love of his life, Margaret, and together they began their family in New Jersey.
A proud resident of Fort Lee for over 60 years, Eddie and Margaret faithfully raised six children, Kathleen, Eddie Jr., Kevin, Peggy, Jimmy, and Brian. A devoted member of the Local 46 Metallic Lathers Union since 1959, Eddie worked as a Journeyman by trade. With no formal education but a lifetime of determination and skill, he founded his own reinforcing steel company in 1985. His deep expertise in heavy construction earned him the respect of major developers across New York, contributing to bridges, roadways, railroads, underground tunnels, cogeneration plants, and countless other landmark projects.
Eddie's love of work was matched only by his love for family - and for his favorite place in the world, Crystal Lake. Time at the lake with Eddie was pure joy: no rules, no diets, no worries, and no sense of time. He lived for going to the lake and rolled out the red carpet for everyone who came to visit - family, friends, or strangers - all were welcome and whatever he had was yours. And if you happened to catch a few fish, it was even more magical. A kind, generous, soul that came from nothing, but made a life richer than a king because of the way he lived-on his terms.
Eddie loved a good party and was always the last to leave, it was just to be expected. With a "nice" Johnnie Walker as he would say, his fun spirit and warmth will forever echo in the memories of all who were lucky enough to know him. Each one of us had our own special relationship with him, built on laughter, old stories, and humor at the heart of every conversation. Eddie's hobbies included playing the organ, trips to Costco for fabulous finds, and shopping on QVC from his flip phone for things he felt you could not live without. Christmas will never be the same!
Eddie embraced each role he held as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, father-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, godfather, brother-in-law, neighbor, and friend, especially to Dr. Choi. Family and the people he cherished most meant everything to him and if you are reading this now, please know the very dear place you held in his heart--always.
Eddie was adored by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (predeceased), by his children, their husbands, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Kathleen and Carl DelCampo; Eddie Jr.; Kevin; Peggy and Al Zurawski; Jimmy and Eun Hyang; and Brian (predeceased); Kaitlin and Devon Catucci, Megan and Danny DiLorenzo, Nicholas, Victoria, Lucy, and Danny.
A gathering of family and friends who wish to visit will be held at Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly on Wednesday, November 5th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a Mass at Holy Trinity Church in Fort Lee on Thursday, November 6th, at 10:00 AM, with burial at Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please throw a few dollars into
The Salvation Army's red bucket this holiday season when you hear the bell ringing, Eddie would have loved that.
