Edward Farrell, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born July 5, 1934, to Edward and Emma Benish Farrell, Ed grew up in Wilkes-Barre, graduating from Coughlin High School. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Joseph and John Farrell.
In 1953, Ed proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. His service would take him throughout the Mediterranean. During this time, he met the love of his life, Deanna Innamorati at Sandy Beach, Harveys Lake. They married in 1956 and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary next May. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with laughter, devotion and countless cherished memories. Ed and Deanna especially loved dancing together, whether at the USO in Norfolk or while traveling on cruises.
After completing his naval service, Ed returned home and worked at Follmer Trucking–North Penn Transfer for more than 20 years. Even after retiring due to an accident, his greatest joy came not from his work but from his family. Ed's happiest moments were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on in all their accomplishments and sharing in the everyday joys of family life.
Ed was also a passionate fan of both football and wrestling. He not only loved watching the sports but also took great pride in refereeing them, giving back to the community and staying connected to the games he enjoyed so much.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna, and their children, Edward Jr. (Sharon Stample), Mark Farrell (Susan Pollard), Scott Farrell (Kathleen Rosie), Deanna Farrell Mennig (John Mennig) and Lari Ann Friedenberg (Scott Friedenberg).
He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, Rebecca Farrell Williams, Liz Farrell Foss, Mark Farrell, Maggie Farrell, Scott Farrell, Caroline Farrell, Scott Ian Farrell, Nicholas Lacomis, Christopher Mennig, Olivia Mennig, Isabel Friedenberg, William Friedenberg, David Friedenberg, John Friedenberg, and Georgia Friedenberg — and the adoring great-grandfather of Sophia Farrell, Olivia Allen, Parker Williams, Elliot Williams, Charlotte Williams and Lottie Foss.

Ed was truly a gem. I actually worked with his brother, John, long before I met Ed. Ed lit up the room he was in, always with a smile on his face and a great joke to pass along. Each time we met Ed spoke of his children, how much he loved them and how proud they made him feel. I am sure his wonderful legacy will continue to live on through his children and grandchildren. My condolences to his family.
