Edward “Eddie” Dean Freiberger, Sr., born in Cleveland, OH and resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away in Baton Rouge, surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 50. Eddie was a beloved family man, who enjoyed time spent with his family, friends, travelling, and cooking. He was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and loved sharing the Gospel with everyone. Eddie worked as a welder/pipefitter and belonged to UA Local Union 198.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Nichole Freiberger; sons, Edward Jr. and Nicholas Freiberger; parents, Dean and Carolyn Freiberger; sibling, Michael Freiberger; niece, Kalyee Bui (Anthony); grandnephew, Elliot Bui; Cousins, Bobby Gilly (Kathy), Michelle O’Neill (Sean), Todd Gilly (Sharon), Scott Gilly (Melissa Hajdik), Christina Krupa (Paul), Clay Kruse (Becky), Joe Condon (Susanne); Aunt and uncle, Patricia and Maury Condon; his beloved dog, Lucy, as well as numerous cousins, friends, his church family, and his union brothers and sisters.
Eddie is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Rita Taylor; Paternal grandparents, Raymond and Freida Freiberger; sister-in-law, Sarah Freiberger; uncle, Bobby Gilly; and aunt, Patricia Kruse (Clayton).
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Woodlawn Baptist Church 5805 Jones Creek Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70817 from 9:30 am until service at 11am. Burial will follow at 12pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Eddie's family requests donations in his memory be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church's Building on Faith Fund. Donations can be made securely using the button below.
