Edward Fritz Obituary

Edward Fritz, born on August 19, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away on November 5, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia at the age of 75. A distinguished and retired Commander of the United States Navy, Edward dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and integrity.

Edward's career was marked by dedication and resilience, traits that extended beyond his military service into his personal interests. An avid horseman, he found joy and tranquility interacting with these majestic animals, which were a significant part of his life outside his professional commitments.

Although he did not adhere to any religious affiliations or organizations, Edward lived a life guided by strong principles and values imparted on him by his late parents, Edward John and Patricia Ann Finney Fritz, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Martha Howell of Georgetown, Texas and Jacqueline Fritz of Seattle, Washington.

In honoring Edward's wishes, he will be laid to rest privately with military honors at the Albert G. Horton Jr., Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia, reflecting his esteemed service and dedication to his nation.

Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, has the honor of caring for Commander Fritz's services. His family and those who knew him well take comfort in remembering the inspiring legacy of service, love of nature and commitment to the values he cherished deeply.
