Edward "Ed" Charles Gallmeier, age 91, of
Belleair Bluffs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Ed was born on March 26, 1934, in
Vernon, Texas to William "Bill" and Emily (Graf) Gallmeier and attended Zion Lutheran Church. As a child he attended Zion Lutheran Elementary School, then Concordia Lutheran and Lockett High Schools. Upon graduation, Ed was drafted in the US Army and served in Korea. Upon returning to the states, Ed attended St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas and Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. On June 19, 1960, Ed married the love of his life Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Huber. After graduating he accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Houston, Texas where he served as a 7 th grade homeroom/history teacher and youth director for 14 years and Principal for 23 years. During his time at Trinity, he taught Sunday School, Bible Class, Vacation Bible School, and Confirmation class. Ed coached girls' sports, sang in the Senior Choir and was bus coordinator. Professionally he served on the Texas District Board for Church Extension for 14 years, Texas District Nomination Committee, Texas District Church & School Committee, Texas District Teacher's Conference Committee as Treasurer, Texas District Accreditation Committee, Houston Lutheran Administrators Conference as: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Program Chairman, Treasurer, and Synod's Urban Education "Flock of Eagles Ministry" team. In 1985 Ed received the Texas District Teacher of the Year. In June 1999, Ed retired and remained a member of the church. When his health began to decline in 2021, Ed and Liz moved to
Belleair Bluffs, Florida to be closer to their daughter.
To characterize his life, one needs to go no further than the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5 (Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness . . .). Every "fruit" was exemplified, if not amplified, in his life. Ed loved his wife, daughter, family, church, and His Savior. He had quiet joy and contagious peace. Each fruit could be equally illustrated but will end with his goodness: He was truly a good man; he walked the walk of a godly, kind, faithful servant, and representative of Christ. Ed loved to fish and had the best stories to tell about the "one that got away". He enjoyed playing dominoes "42", aggravation, chicken foot, bridge and working on cars.
Ed is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Ann (Huber) Gallmeier, daughter and son-in-law Ann and Jon Skilton, grandchildren: Cody (Maddie) , Jacob (Shiloh), Brandon (Hailey), Cassidie, and Marissa, great grandchildren: Norah and Colter, Chapel, Brinley and Parker, sisters: Aletha Jeske and Mildred Harmann, brothers: Reverand Alfred Gallmeier (Kathy) and James Gallmeier (Carolyn), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by parents W.F Gallmeier and Emily Graf Gallmeier and sister Katherine Michalk.
A Celebration of Life for Ed will be held on Saturday, March 28 th at 2pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Avenue,
Houston, TX, 77007.
