Edward Russell Grey

Edward Russell Grey, affectionately known as Eddie to his friends and family, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on May 13, 1949, Eddie's life was marked by his loving nature, thoughtful gestures, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.
Eddie's early years were spent in the nurturing care of his parents, John and Marjorie Grey, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a beloved brother to Marjorie (Michael) VanCleave, Linda (Joseph) Baldiga, and the late John and David. Eddie's life was enriched by the love of his wife, Mary, and dog Candy Rose who also preceded him in death. His legacy continues through his cherished siblings, special nieces and nephews David Sheckler, Erin VanCleave, Kaitlin (Adam) Miller, and his adored great-nieces and nephews Autumn, Hannah, Camille, and Adam, along with many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The Guidbord family, close friends of Eddie, also survive him, a testament to the deep and lasting friendships he cultivated.
For 30 years, Eddie served as a custodian at Norup Junior High in Oak Park, where he was not just a staff member but a part of the community. His dedication to his work was evident in the care he took in maintaining the school environment, ensuring it was a clean and welcoming place for students and staff alike.
Eddie's passions included a lifelong love for trains and model trains, a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and patience. His eyes would light up with the joy of sharing this interest with anyone who cared to learn. An animal lover at heart, Eddie found great comfort and happiness in the company of animals, and he was always ready to share a story or two about his furry friends. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Above all, Eddie cherished time spent with his family. Whether it was a quiet afternoon or a lively family gathering, he was always at the center, sharing stories, laughter, and love. His presence was a source of stability and warmth that drew people together, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Funeral service Noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville, where family and friends may visit Saturday 10:00 AM till time of service.
