Danny Lee Houghtaling

Danny Lee Houghtaling, a man of infectious humor, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on August 1, 1951, Danny's life was a testament to the joy and adventure that can be found in every day.
Married to his beloved wife Kris since September 30, 1972, Danny was a devoted husband and a pillar of support for his family. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Trisia (Ryan) Edwards, and Amanda (partner Mike Skalecki). Danny's legacy of love continues through his four grandchildren, Martina (Paul), Merissa (John), Nick, and Alyson (Justin), as well as four great-grandchildren, Emery, Yanni, Owen, and Wesley, with two more on the way. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
Danny was a brother to many, sharing his life's journey with siblings Linda (Carl) Grimes, Dawn (partner Terry Schoonover) Hyde, Mike Houghtaling, Alan (Janet) Houghtaling, Cindi (Rob) Miles, Pam (Ken) Barnard, and Gary Houghtaling. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lois and brother-in-law John (Peggy) Robinson. His family will remember him as the heart of their gatherings, always ready with a joke or a story to make everyone laugh. A true friend to many, Danny will be dearly missed by his close friends Pat and Julie Miller, and Wes and Velvet Simpson. His absence will leave a void in the many lives he touched.
Danny was a member of the Lapeer Eagles Club 2427 and a former member of the Lapeer Eagle Riders Motorcycle Club. An avid outdoorsman, Danny found solace and joy in the beauty of nature at the farm. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or playing a round of golf, he embraced the great outdoors with enthusiasm. A loyal fan of the Tigers Baseball team, he rarely missed a game and often shared his passion for the sport with his family and friends in the "Man Cave". Known as the life of the party, Danny never sat still, always seeking the next adventure or opportunity to make someone smile or laugh.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Phyllis Houghtaling, and his brothers, Jim and Tim. His spirit, however, will live on in the stories told and the memories cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cremation had taken place, and Celebration of Danny's Life will 3:00 PM on April 25, 2026 at the farm, 4262 N. Washburn Road, Lapeer, MI.
