Lawrence William Ardelan, known affectionately as Larry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 68, in his hometown of Lapeer, Michigan. Born on August 31, 1957, to the late William and Joyce (Behl) Ardelan, Larry was the fourth of six siblings who filled their home with love and laughter. His life was a testament to the joy and creativity he brought into the world, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry's legacy is carried on by his loving children, Sara (Anthony Inman) Pfluke and Noah Ardelan, who remember him as the best dad anyone could ask for. His playful spirit lives on in his grandchildren, Logan, Aubrey, Mason, and Stella, who knew him as "Papa Pool Balls" – a nickname that reflected his passion for playing pool and the joyous times they shared around the pool table. Larry's siblings, Linda Ardelan, Carol (Mike) Caverly, Nancy (Michael) Spencer, and sister-in-law Suzanne Ardelan, will cherish the memories of their brother's unwavering support and infectious humor. He was a beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Carrie, Arlo, Ria, Tavio, Scot, Jessica, Kim, Libby, Jon, Julie, Staci, and Connor, as well as a great-uncle to Taylor, Keane, Rowan, Leo, Emma, Harry, Eden, Silas, Augie, Wyatt, Greyson, and Serenity. His faithful German Shepherd, Buddy, who never left his side.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Ardelan, and his sister Janet (Scot) Wardrop.
Throughout his life, Larry was known for his loving nature, his sense of humor, and his creative spirit. He had a talent for capturing beautiful moments as a photographer, specializing in weddings and senior photos. His artistic eye extended to his home, where he meticulously tended to his large flower garden and took pride in his well-kept yard. Riding his motorcycle was one of his favorite pastimes, a hobby that brought him immense freedom and joy.
After retiring from General Motors, Larry's love for the game of pool inspired him to create a pool hall in his home, a space that became a hub of friendship and laughter. He was always ready with a joke for the kids, and his presence was a source of comfort and entertainment for his family and friends.
Larry's life was a beautiful mosaic of the roles he cherished – a devoted father, a doting grandfather, a loving brother, and a loyal friend. His absence will be felt deeply, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in honor of Larry will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Paradise Animal Rescue - Lapeer, in memory of Larry. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
