Edward Hempel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Birdsong Cremations on Nov. 26, 2025.
On 11 November 2025 Edward M. Hempel, born 5 May 1965, Son of James E. Hempel and Judith Ann Sloan, walked across the golden bridge that leads from this Earthly plane to the everlasting journey beyond, to ride his beloved Harley forevermore. He always walked to the beat of a different drummer and followed his own path during his life.

He will be remembered as a kind, generous man who loved life and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His passion for life was well known. He participated in many motorcycle rallies with different motorcycle clubs during his life and frequently went to Galveston to participate in the rallies held there and throughout Southeast Texas.

He quit school, but got a GED and was a certified A++ Tech from Avatar Computer Solutions who built and repaired computers on the side, he worked as a truck driver at Cannon Ball and at Apple courier, and owned Hempel Transportation, Inc., and the pod cast "The Turtle Traveler."

He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Rice of 15 years, his mother, Judith A. Hempel, his younger brother, Jason A. Hempel and wife, Christy. Nieces: Brittney Ormsbee and husband, Steven, and Melinda Logan and husband, Jimmy. Nephews: Joshua A. Hempel and wife, Amanda, and their daughter, and Ryan A. Hempel and Allie, and her daughter, Ollie, and Grand nieces: Kamryn Hempel-Montejano, Kaia James Ormsbee and Mallory Vandeveer Logan as well as numerous cousins and by his faithful dog, Two Paw.

He was preceded in death by grandparents C. V. "Doc" and wife, Nancy Rabon Sloan, and Gus A. and Doris Aufderheider Hempel, father, James Van Hempel, and older brother, James "Van" V. Hempel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on 13 December 2025 at Courlander Lounge 3* located at 26390 Sorters Rd. Porter, Texas. It will be pot-luck with the meat provided. Each attendee is asked to bring a side dish to share. The bar will be available for those who want to purchase drinks.
