Edward Hope Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services on Dec. 22, 2025.
Edward "Beau" Buist Hope II, 70, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, of natural causes at his home in Black Mountain, North Carolina on December 16, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia to Samuel Rainey Hope and Nancy Wallace Hope.
Beau attended North Carolina State University and worked as a residential and commercial landscape designer for many years. He was artistic and talented and loved to spend his days outside working with plants.
Beau was a lifelong lover of the outdoors and was most at home in the woods. He spent many years faithfully working on the Walk Jones Wildlife Sanctuary and Bridge of Hope with his father, Sam, in Montreat, North Carolina. This project was forever near to Beau's heart. He spent most of his later days hiking the trails of the Montreat Wilderness.
At his heart, he was kind and generous and really loved people, and he never met a dog he did not befriend.
Beau is survived by two daughters, Sarah Strickland Caraway (Hope) of Asheville, NC and Molly Currie Hope of Wanaka, New Zealand, who he loved greatly in all the ways he was able. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Douglas, Anna, and Margaret Kelso Caraway, who he enjoyed getting to meet in recent years. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Hope of Montreat, NC and David Hope of Greensboro, NC.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Wallace Hope, and his father Samuel Rainey Hope.
A memorial for Beau will be held at the Montreat Memorial Garden on January 24, 2026 at 11:00AM.
