Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home - Lake Havasu on Feb. 26, 2026.
Our beloved Husband, Daddy, and Pappaw went to be with his Lord after a brief illness on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his home in
Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
John was born in
Houston, Texas, to Glen Weldon and Velva Leona Marie Engleson Hope. He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Fane Jones, and together they built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. From their union came his most prized accomplishments-their children: Glen, Tina, and Cheri.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Wanda; his daughter, Cheri Lynn Hope; his sister, Barbara H. Wilson; and his brother, Richard "Dick" Hope.
John enjoyed a dedicated career at Calhoun Packing before launching his own businesses, Hope Construction and Hope Well Service. In 2009, he moved to Brackettville, Texas, where he purchased Southwest Auto and Tractor ("SWAT") and Arrowhead Ranch, continuing his lifelong spirit of entrepreneurship and love for the land.
In 2014, John met and married Patricia "Trish" Taylor Hope. Together they shared 11½ years filled with love, laughter, and travel, creating cherished memories and a beautiful chapter in his life.
John's passion for the outdoors defined much of his life. He loved hunting and fishing and was privileged to turn that passion into a calling. As a fishing guide, he led adventures across the country and around the world. For 22 years-long before modern GPS technology-he tracked bass using radio transmitters, becoming a true pioneer in the sport. His expertise led him to write the book Trackin' Trophies, host two television shows, Fishing Texas and American Outdoors, and contribute to Honey Hole Magazine.
Above all, John was a man of deep faith, unwavering determination, and fierce love for his family. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, and the joy he found in sharing the outdoors with others. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the family he so dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife Trish of
