Kurt Oman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home - Iron Mountain on Feb. 26, 2026.
Kurt W. Oman, 54, of Homestead, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

He was born May 26, 1971, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, son of the late William R. and Virginia (Lebrick) Oman. He spent most of his life in the Iron Mountain and Florence area, though he also fondly remembered the years he lived in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Kurt dedicated over 20 years of his career as a glazier for St. George Glass in Iron Mountain, where his skill and reliability were greatly valued. A talented craftsman at heart, he was always building, improving, and tinkering-whether enhancing his home or working on his beloved diesel trucks in the garage.

He married Shannon Fries on October 3, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning a loving partnership that brought joy and stability to their lives. Kurt found simple pleasures in everyday moments: savoring a good steak dinner (and offering his honest critique), tending his garden with care, collecting antiques, watching Yellowstone and classic westerns, and above all, showering affection on his dogs, Rodger, Hunter, Cooper & Walker, who were constant companions.

Kurt is survived by his devoted wife, Shannon; his 10 children: Paris (Rusty) Eichman, Brock Oman, Taylor Oman (Ryan Quick), Tyler McLean (Lacey Church), Sierra (Elliott) Reid, Jordan McLean, Shelby (Nick) Shanesy, Amber McLean, Kale McLean, and Katelyn (Tate) Finley; many grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Peggy) Oman and Mark (Tina) Oman; two sisters, Michelle (Rob) Allard and Danielle Schmidt (fiancé Bryan Freiberg); and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson and his mother- and father-in-law, Lori and Steven Fries.

Local services will be at a later date and announced at that time.

Private family services will be held at a later date in Sedona, Arizona as well.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Kurt's memory.

Condolences may be shared online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.

The family has entrusted arrangements to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
