Edward Anderson Hull II went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 10th 2025. He passed away peacefully at home.

He is preceded in death by his mother Laverne Blue Hull ; his father, Elbert Lee Hull, stepmother Metta Hull, and stepbrother, Charles Covington.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Mandy McDonald Hull, step-daughter, Arden Niles (Troy) granddaughters Rose, and Violet of of LaSelva Beach,California, sister, Ann Fagan (Tim) of Charlotte, stepbrothers John Covington of Charlotte. Neil Covington,(Jean) of Cary, niece Annika Covington Madison,WI, nephew, Julian Covington of St. Paul, MN, and many cousins in NC, VA and Japan.

Eddie was born in Mecklenburg County and grew up in Charlotte, NC. He received his BS in Geology through the Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department at NC State University. He was a proud Wolfpack fan. He loved the pomp and circumstance of all Wolfpack sports, and proudly wore his red and white.

Eddie, no matter where he was , always migrated his way to a sound board. In New Mexico, he did the sound for the local theater, and once back in Raleigh, he operated the sound board at Cary Christian, and Dayspring church, and spent the last 9 years with an amazing team at Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Mount Moriah became his lifeline, working on the sound team, being involved in other committees, and joyfully serving others. He attended 2 international mission trips, and multiple local trips serving with his handyman skills. He loved driving the church van for youth events, and was great with people of all ages. He was a member of the Mixed Nuts Sunday school class and taught young adults bible study. If Eddie wasn't behind the sound board, he was on Mission Field. Our church softball league was very dear to his heart. Once ALS kept him from playing softball, he coached bases, kept score, and eventually just was there for the games enjoying the fellowship of this unique softball community

Eddie was diagnosed a year ago with ALS. He didn't let it stop him from doing what he loved. His last 3 weeks were spent at Mission field doing what he did best, just being Eddie.

Thank you to a wonderful team at Transitions of Wake County. Special thanks to Jill and Jeneva for all the love and care since entering hospice in October.

A softball game in his honor will be Thursday May 22, 2025 at Mount Moriah's Mission Field, and his church service will be Saturday May 31st. Visitation at 10 am, service following at 11:00.am at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, located at 3000 East Garner Rd, Raleigh NC 27610.

The service will be livestreamed from MMBC. Link to be available by May 27

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS.org to help search for a cause and cure of this disease, Mount Moriah Baptist Church (MMBC.life), Transitions of Wake County (transitionslifecare.org), or SPCA of Wake County (spcawake.org).

Eddie was a kind, genorous, good soul. He met my dad at the NCSU geology department in the nineties and they had an excellent friendship. He was always good to me. Thank you for being a good man Eddie. The world needs more people like you.

Sweet Mandy, you are the wife any man would have been so blessed AND lucky to have as his own. Eddie won the lottery when he won your hand. Mandy, you created a beautiful life full of fellowship, direction, recreation and family for your husband, Eddie. Moreover, you honored Eddie with the gift of grace to depart completely on his terms with his wishes carried out, by you, 100% until his last breath. Hallelujah.... Love, Laura Thorpe
