Edward Lee Johnson Jr.

Edward Lee Johnson, known by most of his friends and family as Goub, went to his heavenly home on December 12, 2025. He passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born on, April 30, 1948, in McAlester, Oklahoma to Edward Lee Johnson, Sr. and Lois "Tinker" (Erwin) Goodson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edward married the love of his life, Maxine Gee on July 12, 1969, in Nashoba, Oklahoma, and together they spent the next 56 years building a life of love and a beautiful family.

Edward was a man of few words, but his actions spoke louder than anything he could have said. He showed his love by working hard every day, providing for his family, and making sure they never went without. Edward carried a strong work ethic throughout his life and took pride in doing what needed to be done.

Edward was known for being ornery in the best way and had a quiet, unexpected sense of humor that kept everybody laughing. He loved the outdoors, especially coon hunting & deer camp and he was known for not being the best at finding his way out after a hunt; his buddies quickly caught on to take the lead.

Above all else, Edward loved his family more than anything in this world. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a cherished Papaw. His love was deeply felt through his sacrifices, his presence, and the life he built for those he loved.

Edward will be remembered for his strength, his humor, his dedication and the love he gave in his own steady way. His legacy lives on through his family, who will carry his lessons, stories, and love with them always…he was always a good man, but he accepted Jesus as his savior shortly before he passed and for that we are thankful because we know we will see him again. Edward will be greatly missed by family, friends, and coon hunting buddies.

Edward is survived by his family: wife, Maxine Johnson of the home; daughters, Shandra Wright and husband, Kent of Valliant, OK and Shelly Hisaw and husband, Brent of Valliant, OK; grandchildren, Kendra Jackson and husband, Chris, Karlee White and husband, Collin, Kolby Wright and wife, Emily, Kanyon Fuller and husband, Josh and Karsyn Hisaw; great grandchildren, Kryslee, Kendyl and Clay Jackson, Harley, Haleigh, Cyrus, and Cyler White, Ellie Wright and Harlow Fuller; brothers, Mike Goodson, Jerry Goodson and Bobby Goodson; beloved family friend, whom he loved like a daughter, Sandy Gaskey, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
