Edward Miles "Ed" Knowles

Edward Miles Knowles of Brewton Alabama, age 92, died on August 10, 2023 at The Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Brewton, Alabama.
Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Edna Grace Knowles, his parents James Arthur Knowles and Stella Cooper Knowles of Headland, Alabama, and his brother James Arthur Knowles, III of Headland, Alabama. Mr. Knowles is survived by his sister Becky Knowles Smith of Cullman, Alabama; his three sons, Edward Miles (Ned) Knowles, Jr. of Empire, Colorado,John Michael Knowles of Pensacola, Florida, and James DavidKnowles (Liz) of Brewton, Alabama; his grandchildren StaciaKnowles Price (Carden) of Union Point, Georgia, Samuel Cresap Knowles of Empire, Colorado, Rachel Knowles Stinson(Allen) of Newnan, Georgia, and Robert Grace Knowles of Monroeville, Alabama; great grandson Edwin James Stinson (6 years old) of Newnan, Georgia; friend Paul Richard Dagle of Pensacola, Florida; and extensive family members with whom he was close throughout his life in Headland, Dothan, Huntsville and Cullman, Alabama.
Mr. Knowles was born in Henry County Alabama on January 22, 1931. After graduation from Headland High School, Ed graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Scienceand Master's degrees in Agriculture and had a 30 year career with the Auburn University Cooperative Extension working in Greensboro, Alabama and then in Brewton, Alabama where he moved in 1964 and became Extension Agent for Escambia County, Alabama.
Mr. Knowles was a devoted man in all aspects of his life-to his parents, to his wife Edna for 67 years until her passing in 2018, to his three sons, to his grandchildren and great grandchild, to his work with farmers in the Extension Service, and to First Baptist Church of Brewton as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Choir member. Ed was equally devoted to his friends and to his favorite past times -umpiring local sports events, fishing, hunting, golf, square dancing and clogging, and as a sports enthusiast for Auburn University and T. R. Miller High School.
A visitation service at 12:00 noon and memorial service at 1:00 pm on August 16, 2023 will be held at First Baptist Church of Brewton, officiated by Rev. Cavin Cawthon and WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME OF BREWTON, ALABAMA DIRECTING.
