Edward M. Kujala

Edward M. Kujala age 78, of Mentor-on-the-Lake was called to his eternal home on June 19, 2024. He passed away peacefully at Hospice of Western Reserve. Mr. Kujala was born on August 3, 1945 in Painesville, Ohio. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Painesville. His parents Toivo Kujala and Eva (nee Rein) Kujala, brother Andrew, and Ed were charter members of St. Paul's. Ed was filled with a deep sense of peace and assurance in Christ.
Ed served the U.S. Army as a Door Gunner during the Vietnam War, receiving the Air Medal as well as the Army Commendation Medal for heroism. Ed depended on his faith during his time in Vietnam and received discharge home to his family in 1969.
Ed deeply loved his wife Darlene (nee Burns) Kujala who preceded him in death August 2019 after nearly 45 years of marriage. Ed and Darlene loved their church, time spent together, family, and several pets: most recently their dog Sassy "Kujala". Ed was a good welder, enjoyed woodworking, sharing stories, and fishing. Ed was also known to enjoy a good cigar. Ed retired from Bob Evans after many years of service.
In addition to his wife Darlene, Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. Ed ("Eddie") is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends and family will be received at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church 250 Bowhall Rd., Painesville, on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry Twp.
