Shirley Ann Kujala, 80, of Negaunee Township, entered eternal life Saturday afternoon, September 20, 2025 at her home.

Shirley was born January 29, 1945 in Marquette to Robert and Mary (Svetch) Berger and graduated from Bishop Baraga High School, Class of 1963. She then earned her LPN Degree from Northern Michigan University's nursing program at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital for a decade in the Medical and OB Units before staying home to raise her children. She then worked at M&G's Party Store for nearly 20 years.

Mrs. Kujala was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, and a longtime member of the Negaunee Lady Elks where she enjoyed playing in the cribbage league. Spending Memorial Day weekend in Carney Nadeau and playing cribbage with her family was a cherished memory for her. She hung out at the Hi-Low Club where she played in the pool league, and she loved playing guitar. Shirley was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother who most enjoyed spending time with her family; camping at numerous campgrounds with their fifth wheel and spending time at her Father's house in Big Bay.

Surviving are her son, Robert Kujala of Negaunee Township; daughter, Susan (Trey) Luce of Champion; two grandsons, Justin and Bradley Luce; and her sister, Carol Fraley and her daughter, Debbie, of Marquette; and sister-in-law, Marlene (Reuven) Romback of Negaunee Township. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Kujala in 2000; an infant brother, Robert James Berger; sister-in-law, Ruth (Ward) Rutledge; and brother-in-law, Leslie (Caroline) Kujala.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, September 26th at St. Paul Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11 AM with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Negaunee Elks Lodge. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
