Edward Larry Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 24, 2025.
Edward David Larry, Jr., born on November 28, 1946 in Alexandria, Louisiana, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 21, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born to the late Edward D. Larry, Sr. and Audrey Watson Larry, Edward was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was marked by love, quiet strength, and steadfast faith.
Edward grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana, where he graduated from Peabody High School as a member of the Class of 1964. He went on to pursue higher education at Texas Southern University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and graduating with honors, receiving a Cum Laude distinction. His academic accomplishments were a testament to his lifelong belief in learning, hard work, and perseverance.
Edward built a strong career rooted in dedication and integrity. He served as a Meat Market Manager at Kroger, and later became a long-time, respected employee of Union Carbide/Dow Chemical, where he formed lasting connections and earned the admiration of colleagues. His proudest accomplishment, however, was being a loving husband and devoted father, roles he embraced wholeheartedly.
On September 6, 1968, Edward married the love of his life, Doris Jean Watson Larry, and together they built a strong and enduring family. He was the cherished father of Cornell Larry (LaShanda), Gregory Larry (Philesha), Ti any Narcisse, Terrance Larry, and Angelica Bentley. He adored his grandchildren-Danielle Paul, Andrea Bob, Julian Larry, Dori Bob, Sean Larry, Brianna Larry, Jayden Larry, Xavier Larry, Ayden Wilson, Alijah Bentley, Ashton Bentley, and Austen Bentley-each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Edward is preceded in death by his father, Edward Larry Sr., mother, Audrey Larry, stepmother, Daisy Larry, and set of twin brothers, Donald and Ronald Larry. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Clara Scott and Jackie Green (Charles). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many cherished relatives and friends who were blessed by his generosity, kindness, and warmth.
At a very young age, Edward accepted Christ into his life at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana. As a longtime member of New Covenant Christian Church, he lived a life marked by deep compassion and faithful service, dedicating countless hours to supporting the community through ministry. Whether lending a hand, o ering a listening ear, or sharing his wisdom, Edward touched the lives of many in ways that will never be forgotten.
Edward's family and friends will forever cherish his caring spirit, his deep love for family, and his gift for bringing people together-especially over food. Known for his delicious cooking and his famous gumbo, he created meals that nourished both body and soul. He also loved the timeless music of the 1960s.
Edward's legacy is one of love, service, and kindness-a life well-lived and a race well-run. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
