Edward Markovitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Brunswick on Dec. 8, 2023.
Edward Markovitz, age 72, of Brunswick, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born on August 13, 1951, to the late Steven and Ella (nee Post) Markovitz in Cleveland, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 33 years, Joyce Markovitz; his children, Terri Wallace of Cleveland, OH, Christine Porter of Lincoln, NE, E.J. Markovitz of Cleveland, OH, Jason of Valley City, OH, Katie Markovitz of Michigan and stepdaughter, Rebecca Arbogast of Brunswick, OH; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Eddie's passion for baseball was evident in every aspect of his life. As a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan, he could be found cheering on his beloved team with unmatched enthusiasm. His love for the sport extended beyond the bleachers, as he dedicated much of his time to fostering a love for baseball in the younger generation. Eddie played a pivotal role in establishing the Brunswick youth T-ball league, where his commitment and dedication left a lasting impact on countless aspiring young athletes.
Not content with merely cheering from the sidelines, Eddie also took on the role of an umpire for girls' softball, showcasing his love for the game and ensuring fair play for all participants. His integrity and fairness made him a respected figure on the field, and his positive influence reached far beyond the diamond.
Beyond his contributions to the world of sports, Eddie was a man of great warmth and charisma. His infectious personality and genuine kindness endeared him to everyone he encountered. Whether through his involvement in community activities or his willingness to lend a helping hand, Eddie touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
As we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and friend, let us also celebrate the rich tapestry of Eddie's life. His legacy lives on in the memories of the countless lives he touched, and his spirit will forever echo in the cheers of young ballplayers and the crack of a baseball bat.
Edward Markovitz will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace and may his love for the game continue to inspire generations to come.
Edward will be laid to rest with the honor he deserves at Western Reserve National Cemetery, located at 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273. The military honors ceremony will take place at the cemetery on a date that is yet to be determined. The Markovitz's family has entrusted Edward's care to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Brunswick.
