Edward Earl McClaughry, 85, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2025. He was born on May 25, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to Ernest and Margie McClaughry.
Edward grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Crozier Tech High School. He went on to enjoy a successful career as an engineer with Otis Industries and later with Trinity Industries until his retirement.
Edward was known for his fun-loving spirit, sharp mind, and kind, dependable nature. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and share his goofy sayings that became beloved family treasures. His antics and humor could light up any room. While his career brought him fulfillment, his proudest accomplishments were always his family, especially his grandchildren.
Outside of work and family, Edward had many passions. He loved vintage cars, classic tunes, and baseball. He coached for many years, leaving a lasting impact on athletes. He also cherished family cookouts, where his joy, laughter, and warmth brought everyone together.
In his later years, Edward faced challenges with confusion and uncertainty, but those who knew him best remember the man he was in his prime—confident, vibrant, and full of life. He is now at peace and free of those burdens.
Edward is survived by his sons, Edward Keith McClaughry and Jeremy Craig McClaughry; his daughter, Deidre Janell Vastine; his grandson, Justin Heath Starek; and his granddaughters, Miranda Janell Starek and Taylor Steward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margie McClaughry, and his loving wife, Gloria Jan McClaughry.
Edward’s legacy of love, humor, and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
