Edward J. McGowan, Jr., devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather currently from Lombard, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026 at the age of 95. Born in Buffalo, NY, Edward lived in the area for most of his youth and served in the Army Air Corps after high school. He moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked as an Electrical Engineer for Hallicrafters. There he met his wife, Mary Ann, and they married soon afterwards. They had five children together. Edward returned to night school and received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Stoelting Company and earned the praise of many in the industry for his work. He owned his own business for many years designing and selling medical grade equipment until he retired in 2005. Edward and Mary Ann recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary with their family.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann McGowan, his children Leslie McGowan Hauschild (Richard), Christy McGowan, Neil McGowan (Brenda), Gail McGowan Harris (Nelson), Bryan McGowan (Elizabeth Hagad) and his niece Chelsea Dunlap. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward J. McGowan, Sr. and Florence Keller McGowan, his brother Neil McGowan, His sister-in-law Sydne Faulk McGowan, His sister Annetta McGowan Dunlap and his brother-in-law John Dunlap all from the Buffalo, NY area.

A celebration of life is being planned for spring.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The American Lung Association or the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
