Edward Francis McHale (1956-2024)
Edward Francis McHale III, 68, of North, Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024. He is the son of Mary McHale and the late Edward McHale, the husband of Susan McHale, the father of Morgan McHale Qin, and grandfather of Fia McHale Qin.
Ed was born in Troy, New York. One of seven siblings, Ed was always first in the family to crack a joke, connect people, and turn any mood into a happy one. He spent his childhood playing baseball, football, and basketball - his true love.
A job with Norton brought him to Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. Stints at US Chemical and Plastics, PBE Jobbers, and National Oak Distributors marked a successful, self-made sales career that Ed was unwilling to give up even in his semi-retirement years.
Ed's achievements weren't a surprise for those who knew him. The first time you met Ed, you'd feel welcome instantly- a handshake, a smile, a hug. The second time you met Ed, you'd feel like the only one in the room - he'd have listened to and remembered everything about you.
For his many family, friends, and colleagues, Ed is remembered for his authentic passion - of course for making folks feel welcome and listened to, but in particular his love of sports. On top of his UCLA basketball fandom, friends often joked that he dressed like a New York Yankees scout (he was even mistaken for one once while traveling), and he cherished his annual trip to see the Minnesota Vikings with lifelong friends Bob Hope and Chris Alund.
For Morgan and Fia, Ed is remembered as a father and grandfather ("Pop") who never ran out of generosity. He shared his love for reading, his ardent loyalty to sports and music, and above all, gave every ounce of his energy and time to make sure they always felt loved.
For Susan, Ed's wife, partner, and best friend since their marriage in 1986, Ed is remembered for his selflessness, loyalty, and devotion to making her laugh. He often and unflinchingly described their 38 years of marriage as the best chapter of his life.
Ed often described people as "good people", and Ed McHale was truly the best people. He will be severely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Susan McHale ; daughter, Morgan (Simon) McHale Qin and granddaughter, Fia McHale Qin, of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Mary McHale of Wynantskill, New York; brother, Tim (Teresa) McHale of Troy, New York; brother, Steve (Nancy) McHale of Houston, Texas; sister, Barbara (Terry) O'Brien of Jacksonville Florida; brother, Dave (Kim) McHale of Wynantskill, New York; sister, Mary (Clem) Zotto, of Dallas, Texas; and Randy (Christine) McHale, of Clifton Park, New York.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in New York in the Spring. Donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (give.Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF).org/tribute/edwardfrancismchale) in Edward's honor would be greatly appreciated. Ed was a great guy and very good friend during the time we were in touch. 1984-1990 (approx ). I will say this as a possible correction; he was a die-hard Lakers fan. Never heard him mention UCLA.

Deeply saddened upon hearing of Ed´s passing. We had done business together over many years and shared one heck of a lot laughs. My deepest condolences to his family, as he was one of a kind. I will miss him dearly.
