Edward E McNally
Somersworth, NH
Edward E McNally, 88, of Somersworth, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 20, 1937, in Sherman Mills, Maine, the adopted son of Sydney "Babe" McNally and Ernestine (Thompson) McNally.
Edward was a proud graduate of Somersworth High School, Class of 1955, and learned to be a tool and die maker. He later attended community college where he studied business management. Throughout his career, he worked for several local private companies, including Clarostat, Kidder Press, and Thompson Tool and Die. He later joined the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME where he rose to and retired as General Foreman of Shop 31 (Machine Shop).
A proud veteran, Edward served with distinction as a non-commissioned officer in the New Hampshire Army National Guard, based in Somersworth. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class and was well respected by both his superiors and those he led.
As a member of St. Martin Church in Somersworth, Edward was a man of deep faith and commitment to his community. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he devoted countless hours to helping those in need and supported parish life.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Joan (Fogerty) McNally; three children, Stephen McNally (wife Barbara Jones), Sharon Doolittle (husband Ken Doolittle), and Shawn McNally (wife Gigi McNally); five grandchildren, Ryan McNally, Kyle Slone, Ahlia Slone, Jeremy McNally and Brittany Martino, and one great-grandson, Aiden McNally.
He was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Sydney "Babe" McNally and Ernestine McNally; a step-brother, Dana McNally, his beloved sister, Earlene Ingalls; and brother, Richard Hay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin Church, 27 Saint Martin Way in Somersworth, NH, with Father Andrew Nelson officiating, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Following the Mass, a catered reception will be held in the parish hall, where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of the kind and loyal man known to many simply as "Eddie."
A burial with full military honors will take place at the Veterans Administration Cemetery, 83 Stanley Rd in Springvale, Maine at 2 pm for family and any friends who would like to attend.
