Edward Hugh McNamara, known to his friends and loved ones as Ed, passed away on August 8, 2023, at the age of 54. He was born on September 7, 1968, in Philadelphia, PA to the late William J. and Mary L. McNamara. Ed was a loving husband, a devoted brother, dear uncle and an esteemed Senior Systems Engineer for Exelon Corporation.
In his leisure time, Ed found solace in nature. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boating, and hunting. Music was another passion that deeply resonated with Ed. He was skilled in playing the drums and often found comfort in creating rhythms that reflected various emotions. Whether performing alone or jamming with friends and family members at gatherings, Ed's drumming talent never failed to impress those fortunate enough to witness it.
Ed leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda F. McNamara; and his brothers, William "Bill" J. McNamara, III (Vicki), Sean P. McNamara (Andrea), Brian V. McNamara (Nora) and Patrick K. McNamara (Caroline). He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, friends, and colleagues who will forever hold him in their hearts.
The services to honor Ed's life will be held at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services PA in Glen Burnie, MD. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, starting at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, followed by the burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
During this time of grief, let us remember Ed for the incredible person he was - talented, compassionate, and full of life. His memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
As we bid farewell to Ed, let us hold onto the memories we shared and celebrate the impact he made in our lives.

My deepest condolences to everyone who had the privilege to know this man! Family, Friends, Colleagues.
I worked with ED at Exelon. One of the greatest kindest people I ever met. A real honest down to earth guy. We spent many hours on the phone talking about the good ole days, fishing, nature...which he really loved. Boats, music, his drumming which I never got to witness. His tree trimming days lol and we always joked around as good guys do. He always said I was the best friend he never met, but I did finally get a few opportunities to spend some time with him in Baltimore. I'm so glad I was able to be a small part of his life. I miss ya buddy, and don't ya worry Brother! We'll go fishin when I get there myself man! Sorry we didn't go sooner.

My deepest and sincere condolences to Ed's family and friends. I knew Ed for 7 years. I will forever miss Ed's wit and knowledge at work (Exelon), and appreciate all the expertise, humor and help that he always offered without reserve. I was privileged to meet Ed a couple of times when visiting Baltimore and to share our passion for music both as fans and musicians. Even though Ed was an excellent drummer, I thought he had a great voice in some of the recordings that he shared. Ed used to call me brother and I replied in kind. I will forever miss and cherish the time we shared on this realm. Rest easy brother Ed. You've gone ahead of us and soon we'll meet again!

I´ve only known Ed for 3 years now but feel like I´ve known him forever. He was a great friend and co-worker. Best friend I never met. With his strong work ethic and incredible ability to raise the team camaraderie just by being present, he was the team. He will be greatly missed.

My friend, a good man. The best neighbor I´ve ever had. We had our own fence time conversations and held a lot of the same principles and beliefs. I´ve learned that you can go through life and a numerous acquaintances but only a few friends. I was blessed to claim Ed as a friend. He is sorely missed.

Ed was an amazing man. I am his neighbor. I would see him outside tinkering in the yard. I will miss our talks over the fence. I will miss his lessons on the medicinal properties plants. I will miss hearing him singing with his headphones on while working in the yard. I will miss hearing him play his drums. I will miss Ed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Linda and your family.

I met Ed on his very first day at Exelon, setting up his workstation and making small talk. We would talk whenever we crossed paths, and he never failed to make me laugh. Always knowledgeable and helpful regarding work, Ed was simply a great guy who will be sadly missed..
