Shirley Audrey Bailey, 88, Glen Burnie resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, under the care of Morning Rainbow Assisted Living. Shirley was born Wednesday, August 11, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, to William Howard and Margaret (Alvey) Bowers. She was a school bus driver for several private contractors in the area for many years. Shirley attended St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where she was an active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Mother Seton #2119. In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting christening gowns, and baby/children sweaters for her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going camping with her family and close friends. Most recently at her apartment complex, she found a love for Wii Bowling. Shirley loved being surrounded by family and friends, enjoying stories and laughing, something everyone is going to miss, but her memory will live on in all of those that knew her.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, William Howard Bowers and Margaret (Alvey) Bowers; her siblings, Edna Mae Peregory and William Howard Bowers, Jr. (Skip); her husband, Elsworth Daniel Bailey; her two sons, Donald Lee Roy Bailey, Sr., and William Vernon Bailey and two grandsons. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Carolyn Bolton of Baltimore, and Margaret Ann Elliott (Russell) of Ridgeley, WV; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, 10am -11am. Funeral service, Saturday, 11am, at the funeral home. Interment Lorraine Park Cemetery.
